Employee Orientation Benchmarking Study
Summary: In 2000, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board led a benchmarking examination of a number of leading workplaces to identify the factors that accounted for the sucess of their employee occupational health and safety orientation programs. The Final Report includes findings on orientation along with details on the methodogy behind the benchmarking study. The report resulted in the development of resources for workplaces to use when developing their own orientation programs. The resources include a Guide for Employers and a Guide for Workers.
Outcome: The workplaces examined were selected on the recommendation from key organizations within Ontario's health and safety system. The practices identified in the study were discovered through workplace visits and were verified by individual workplaces as achieivng success for those workplaces.
